The Prize can be awarded to any qualified individual, group, or organization without restriction by nationality, profession, or location. The competition is open globally. The winner will receive €500 thousand to help bring his or her plan to market. An additional €200 thousand be awarded to the runner-up. SWFF seeks innovators who understand the local environment, understand the needs of the end users of their technology, and have sustainable innovations that benefit the poor and women. Eligibility extends to Commonwealth citizens of developing Commonwealth countries, refugees, and British protected persons. Applicants must be permanently resident in a developing Commonwealth country and meet the entry educational requirements. The application deadline is 15 May 2015. The Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS) makes awards of US$5 thousand to each of up to three young agricultural researchers in developing countries who contribute to outstanding research and development in agriculture, forestry, fisheries and related themes. Commonwealth Professional Fellowships support mid-career professionals from developing Commonwealth countries to make professional visits (typically of three months) with UK host organisations. Fellows must be Commonwealth citizens, refugees, or British protected persons -- and they must be permanently resident in a developing Commonwealth country. The program KLIMAFORSK is Norway's new 10-year initiative for climate research. Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD) supports female scientists in Sub-Saharan Africa and Least Developed Countries (LDCs) with doctoral fellowships in the natural sciences. Applicants should be qualified young women science graduates (generally below 40 years of age), who have an M.Sc. degree or outstanding B.Sc. in the natural sciences. India's Department of Science and Technology (DST) offers fifty fellowships in 2015-2016 for scientists and researchers from developing countries for collaboration with Indian research partners. The fellowships program is coordinated through the Center for Science and Technology of the Non-Aligned and Other Developing Countries (NAM S&T Center). The Center for Development Innovation (CDI) at Wageningen University in the Netherlands helps build the capacities of individuals and organizations that are addressing the global challenges of sustainability and food security. The deadline to apply for international conferences; short training initiatives; and international training programs ranges from 07 September to 21 September 2015. Additionally, VLIR-UOS makes travel grants for EU students at Flemish universities for research and internships in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. It offers PhD scholarships for nationals in selected countries of these regions to study at Flemish universities. It is in this context that Guinea's Ministry of Energy and Water and the Global Water Initiative (GWI) in West Africa and held a national workshop in Conakry<http://www.gwiwestafrica.org/en/final-communique-national-workshop-securing…> on 4 and 5 March. Participants included representatives from the Ministries of Agriculture and of Urban and Rural Planning, as well as from the National Assembly, civil society and donors. The communities who will be affected by Fomi were consulted and contributed their feedback during a workshop in July 2014 in Kankan<http://www.gwiwestafrica.org/en/local-validation-workshop-analysis-knowledg…>. Here is a summary of the proposals made in the study: * Reform the legal framework, particularly the land and federal code (CFD); * Develop an operations manual for land expropriation in the public interest; * Define the operationalisation of options for agricultural development in the Local Development Plan (LDP), clarifying the ownership of the land concerned; * Provide social support (consultations, negotiations) for land tenure processes. Implementation of reforms Through the final communiqué<http://www.gwiwestafrica.org/en/final-communique-national-workshop-securing…> of the recent workshop in Conakry, the legislative and administrative reforms identified have been validated and a series of recommendations established for their implementation, including the need to: * Integrate the issue of expropriation, compensation and land tenure security into current initiatives of the Ministries of Agriculture and Urban and Rural Planning; * Combine modern law and customary rights; * Resolve the issue of the availability and location of land to be used for compensation.
