Bonjour Tout le monde,
Lors de ma dernière mission au Grand Nord Ghanéen, j'ai fait des découvertes et
observation que je voudrais partager avec vous. Il s'agit de découvertes pour et
sûrement pas pour bon nombres de nos aînés. Il s'agit de certaines espèces de poissons
que je vous prieriai de m'aider à identifier. Ce sont des poissons pêchés dans la
Volta Blanche dans les villages de Tiya et Soba (District de Mamprusi, Région du Nord).

L'observation concerne une variété de poisson chat (de couleur rosâtre) que les
populations locales appellent Red Fish. Existe-t-il de poisson-chat rose (ou rouge) ou
s'agit-il d'une mutation? Si mutation il y a, quelle peut en être la cause?
Je pense à une mutation pour la simple raison que, dans les lots de poisson observés, il y
en avait aussi qui étaient bigarés (faisant penser à une dépigmentation incomplète ou en
cour). Voir photos dans le fichier Zip ''Observation-Red catfish''.

New subject: [Sarnissa-french-aquaculture] Espèces de poisson
These are all common species in the Volta system.
The large smoked fish with the big teeth looks to me like Hydrocynus brevis. It might be
H. forskalii, but is not H. goliath nor H. vittatus, neither of which have been recorded
in the Volta.
The grey fish with the pink tail is Synodontis clarias. The tilapiine photographed with S.
clarias is probably Sarotherodon galilaeus.
The mormyrid is most likely Mormyrus rume.
The fish in the basket is Bagrus either docmac or bajad.
The "redfish" is probably Clarias agboyiensis. It is naturally that colour, much
lighter and brownish than other Clarias spp.
Most interesting is the Clarias (probably either C. gariepinus or C. anguillaris) with the
apparent skin disease, although there is no sign of hemorrhage. I note two specimens. Are
these depigmented fish common? Are they all like that in the area?
