Bonjour, La plupart des éleveurs je sais obtiennent plus de 60% taux de survie des alevins. Ma suggestion personnelle est d'arrêter l'alimentation de la saumure de crevettes vous donner les alevins. Il peut tuer les alevins. Je vous conseille de rechercher des solutions de rechange. Hello, Most breeders around me do get over 60% rate of survival of the fingerings. My personal suggestion is stop the artemia feed you give the fries. It kills the fries. I can tell you that there are several factors that are key to obtaining this, including optimising both water quality & feed, but even so a 50% survival is not realistic. If you get a 20% survival from egg to 1kg you are doing well. OPIDIN is a spatial planning tool helpful for early warning, but it has many other benefits as well: it helps fishermen for example to take early decisions about new investments and supports local authorities to decide when cattle can migrate into the Inner Niger Delta to feed on dried up floodplains. The tool is available from August until October and is released via a website and radio broadcasts in Mali. The World Bank is the biggest donor to the project, which is planned on West Africa’s largest river, the Niger. The project intends to deliver energy and food security by generating much-needed power and expanding irrigation in Niger, a country on the edge of the Sahara Desert that is ranked last on the UN’s Human Development Index. But progress on the dam has stalled, and thousands have been forced to relocate to places that lack critical infrastructure. My colleague Sani visited the project last month, and found a community reeling from a difficult and prolonged relocation that still hasn’t concluded. This week, we met with senior officials from the World Bank who do not deny the fundamental challenges that the Kandadji project poses. During our meetings, Sani also spoke of the communities he visited who will be displaced by the dam’s reservoir in the project’s second phase. Since the project began in 2012, they have suffered a serious lack of economic opportunity, as no one is investing in a region that could be inundated by a dam’s reservoir. This has led to pervasive frustration, which my colleague Sena describes as “waiting for the dam syndrome.” While local communities are stoic and willing to move for the betterment of the country, the project must not be done at their expense. As they continue to await relocation, they are in urgent need of significant support. Having supported many such visits over the last ten years, I was struck by the palpable concern from officials over the fate of the project and the thousands of people who will have to make way for it. Our visit confirmed my worst fears that Kandadji has gone off the rails, and the fallout for the Bank and local communities will be profound. In our meetings, the World Bank did not deny that the social footprint of the project could be much higher than anticipated. Developers originally estimated that 32,500 people would be displaced by the reservoir; the number of people could in fact be well over 60,000. This truth was acknowledged amid concerns that the irrigated land promised to communities is insufficient. As I describe in a new fact sheet on the project, this would create a real humanitarian crisis. Despite the project’s many faults, Niger’s enormous needs are undeniable. But with a price tag that's over $1 billion and growing quickly, plus an ever-growing social footprint, it’s clear that it’s time to press the pause button and consider all available options. The Bank’s own research shows that improving traditional farming techniques is preferable to large-scale irrigation schemes in Africa, which have a dismal track record. Meanwhile, Niger has enormous potential for solar energy. But despite the remarkable rise of solar and wind globally, three quarters of the Bank’s lending for renewable energy in Africa over the last six years has gone to large hydro. The World Bank has failed to learn the hard-won lessons of its past in supporting large dams, which have routinely impoverished local communities. While there may be no good options left on the table, it’s clear that the World Bank should not have been involved in the first place. As the World Bank faces the prospect of pulling out, the future is unclear for tens of thousands of people whose lives have been upended. As Sani stressed during our visit, the Bank was instrumental in getting the project off the ground, and it can’t shirk its responsibility now – it must do right by impacted communities and ensure that they are not left in the dust. * **Le barrage de Kandadji, au bord d'une catastrophe humanitaire *6 juin 2016 * *La semaine dernière, j’ai été rejoint à Washington DC par Sena Alouka et Sani Ayouba, courageux militants de l'organisation Jeunes Volontaires pour l'Environnement (JVE), pour une série de réunions intensives à la Banque mondiale afin d'exprimer des craintes à propos du barrage de Kandadji. La Banque mondiale est le principal bailleur de fonds du projet, qui est prévu sur le Niger, le plus grand fleuve d'Afrique de l'Ouest. Le projet vise à fournir de l'énergie et à améliorer la sécurité alimentaire par la production indispensable d’électricité et l'expansion de l'irrigation au Niger, un pays au bord du désert du Sahara classé au dernier rang de l'indice de développement humain des Nations Unies. Mais les progrès du barrage sont au point mort et des milliers de personnes ont été forcés de déménager dans des endroits manquant d'infrastructures essentielles. Mon collègue Sani a visité le projet le mois dernier, il a trouvé une communauté ébranlée par une délocalisation longue et difficile qui n'est pas encore terminée. Cette semaine, nous avons rencontré des hauts fonctionnaires de la Banque mondiale qui ne nient pas les défis fondamentaux posés par le projet de Kandadji. Au cours de nos réunions, Sani a également parlé des communautés qu'il a rencontrées et qui seront déplacées par le réservoir du barrage lors de la deuxième phase du projet. Depuis le début du projet en 2012, elles ont souffert d'un grave manque d’opportunités économiques, étant donné que personne n’investit dans une région qui pourrait être inondée par le réservoir d'un barrage. Cela a conduit à une frustration généralisée, que mon collègue Sena décrit comme "le syndrome d’attente du barrage." Alors que les communautés locales sont stoïques et prêtes à se déplacer pour le bien du pays, le projet ne doit pas être fait à leurs dépens. Dans l’attente de leur réinstallation, elles ont un besoin urgent d'un soutien important. Ayant soutenu bon nombre de ces visites au cours des dix dernières années, j’ai été frappé par le souci palpable des fonctionnaires à propos du sort du projet et des milliers de personnes qui devront lui laisser la place. Mes pires craintes ont été confirmées lors de notre visite, le projet de Kandadji a déraillé et les répercussions pour la Banque mondiale et les communautés locales seront considérables. Lors de nos réunions, la Banque mondiale n'a pas nié que l'impact social du projet pourrait être beaucoup plus élevé que prévu. Les promoteurs du projet estimaient initialement que 32.500 personnes seraient déplacées par le réservoir, en réalité ce nombre pourrait être de bien plus de 60.000. Cette vérité est apparue sur fond de préoccupation concernant les terres irriguées insuffisantes promises aux communautés. Malgré les nombreux défauts du projet, les besoins énormes du Niger sont indéniables. Mais avec une facture de plus de $1 milliard s’alourdissant rapidement, et un impact social sans cesse croissant, il est clair qu'il est temps d'appuyer sur le bouton de pause et d'examiner toutes les options disponibles. Les propres recherches de la Banque montrent que l'amélioration des techniques agricoles traditionnelles est préférable au système d'irrigation à grande échelle qui en Afrique a un bilan lamentable. Par ailleurs, le Niger a un énorme potentiel pour l'énergie solaire. En dépit du développement remarquable de l'énergie solaire et éolienne dans le monde, au cours des six dernières années les trois-quarts des prêts de la Banque pour les énergies renouvelables en Afrique, sont allés à des grands projets de barrages hydroélectriques. La Banque mondiale n'a pas retenu les leçons durement acquises de son soutien passé aux grands barrages qui ont régulièrement appauvri les communautés locales. Bien qu'il puisse ne plus rester d’option satisfaisante sur la table, il est certain que la Banque mondiale n’aurait pas dû être impliquée en premier lieu. Alors que la Banque mondiale fait face à la perspective de se retirer, l'avenir est incertain pour des dizaines de milliers de personnes dont les vies ont été bouleversées.
