La Global Water Initiative (GWI) en Afrique de l'Ouest<http://www.gwiwestafrica.org> a engagé, depuis 2012, un processus de recherche-action sur trois périmètres irrigués : Bagré au Burkina Faso, Anambe au Sénégal et Sélingué au Mali. L'objectif de cette démarche est de co-construire avec les parties prenantes des stratégies pour que le système de conseil agricole soit adapté aux besoins spécifiques des différents types de producteurs. Les participants ont apprécié le caractère inclusif du processus et l'originalité de la démarche d'élaboration d'un plan d'action consensuel. Ils estiment en effet que le dialogue direct entre les agences de gestion et les organisations paysannes a contribué à « briser les tabous » entre ces deux groupes d'acteurs clés de la gestion des systèmes irrigués et à construire les bases d'une alliance forte autour d'une vision commune de gouvernance. The Global Water Initiative has completed an action-research initiative in three irrigation schemes : Bagré in Burkina Faso, Anambé-Confluent in Senegal and Sélingué in Mali. The objective was to co-develop, with stakeholders, strategies to deliver more effective agricultural advisory services that were adapted to the needs of different kinds of farmer. Participants appreciated the inclusive nature of the process used, as well as the innovative approach of developing a consensual action plan. They believe that direct exchanges between the scheme management agencies and the local farmers has helped to break taboos and laid the foundations for a strong partnership through a common vision for local scheme governance.
