REGIONAL COMMISSION FOR AFRICA The current President of the Commission, Dr Saley Mahamadou, has had to step down as he is no longer the OIE Delegate for Niger. The next meeting of the OIE Regional Commission (May 2012) will have to elect a new President. Until then, the Commission can be contacted through the Vice-President, Dr. Marosi Molomo, Delegate for Lesotho. REGIONAL REPRESENTATION FOR AFRICA The concept note on the relevance of the OIE 5th Strategic Plan for Africa and its articulation with the CAADP programme, has been updated to match the latest changes to the CAADP programme and is available for download in pdf. OBITUARY On November 19th, 2011, Dr. Christina Chisembele passed away after a prolonged illness. In 2009 she briefly joined the Regional Animal Health Centre in Gaborone on FAO contract to work on the development of regional surveillance guidelines for notifiable avian influenza. REPRESENTATION FOR NORTHERN AFRICA A vacancy-announcement for the appointment of a new Sub-Regional Representative for Northern Africa was launched on November 25th and will be concluded on December 15th, 2011. REPRESENTATION FOR SOUTHERN AFRICA As a result of the retirement on November 30th of Dr. Bonaventure Mtei, Sub-regional Representative for Southern Africa, Dr. Neo Mapitse, Deputy-Represen-tative, is now acting Sub-Regional Representative. A vacancy-announcement for the appointment of a new Representative will be concluded on December 15th, 2011. A joint FAO - OIE technical backstopping mission was conducted in Mozambique in November in order to assist the nationalveterinary and fisheries authorities to deal with an outbreak of white spot disease in prawns, reported to the OIE on September 22, 2011. 30th WORLD VETERINARY CONGRESS IN CAPE TOWN The 30th World Veterinary Congress was attended by more than 130 countries and around 1,500 visitors, including numerous OIE Delegates, experts and staff. As a satellite meeting, deans of schools and faculties of veterinary medicine or sciences met with preseidents and registrars of veterinary statutory bodies (VSB) in Southern and Eastern Africa on October 9 and 10th, 2011 OIE TRAINING PROGRAMME The OIE training programme for OIE Delegates and subject matter Focal Points was pursued with seminars for Delegates and Focal Points in the SADC region on veterinary legislation (Gaborone), for North African and Middle-Eastern Focal Points on veterinary products (Casablanca) and for Focal Points on wildlife in Amboseli and Gaborone. Nous y aurons effectivement le rôle de maître d'œuvre en partenariat avec une profession de pisciculteurs. Le pays est la Guinée où nous avons la chance d'avoir eu une écoute attentive de l'AFD. Devant l'enjeu du projet, le CA a pris la décision de diffuser en parallèle des annonces classiques, la fiche de poste à tous les membres à jour de leur cotisation afin de leur permettre de faire circuler cette annonce autour d'eux ou, éventuellement, de postuler directement. Vous la trouverez en pièce jointe. Vous pouvez recommander directement des candidatures ou faire part de votre intérêt pour le poste à un membre du CA, dont je vous rappelle la liste ci dessous.
