Subject: Postgraduate Workshop
Hello,
I'm organising the final HBES-funded Scottish Evolutionary Psychology workshop (Thursday 22nd August). This will be a postgraduate workshop, for any postgrad working in evolution and behaviour to attend to listen or present for 15 minute slots.
This will be an informal day for students to present their work and meet other people in their field.
If you'd like to come along (everybody welcome!), and if you're a postgrad who'd like to give a talk, please let me know.
Also, please could you also forward this any postgrads whose addresses I might not have on my list.
Thanks, and look forward to seeing everyone,
Fhionna

It was 23 degrees before the start of the race, there many hills to battle up but we all won our finisher medals.
Our race times do not appear to strongly associate (positively or negatively) with age, intelligence, looks, or size of any parts of our anatomies!
Very well done to Ronan who beat both Laura and me (and he finished within an hour).
Best, Hannah

Dear all
Three members of Psychology plan to run/jog/joggle the Edinburgh10km on Sunday.
Laura Hall and I are doing it to raise money for the Universities Federation for Animal Welfare. UFAW is an excellent scientific organisation that fund research (including ours) and promote understanding of animal welfare. They also generously sponsor our BERG meetings.
Thanks to all those who have already sponsored us – but if you have not yet, please do - no matter how small an amount....
http://www.justgiving.com/Laura-Hall8
The identity of the third member of the Psychology “runners” will likely only be identified to everybody if he beats us! He’ll be quite unbearable – as might I be if I beat him!
Best wishes, Hannah

Dear BERGers
I am excited to let you know about a summer seminar on Monday, 29th July at 4.30pm in 2A43 in the Cottrell Building, Stirling.
Dr David Sinn from the University of Texas will talk on "Individual differences in behavioural development: fundamental patterns and applied relevance".
David will be working with Alex Weiss in Edinburgh. He has published extensively on personality from different perspectives and in a diversity of species (octopus, squid, lizard, Tasmanian devil, dog).
The seminar will be followed by drinks and nibbles and then we plan to go out for early dinner afterwards – will send details nearer the time.
We might like to take this opportunity to get together to practice conference talks – would anyone like to present earlier on the afternoon of 29th July, and get feedback on their talks? Please let me know before noon on Monday 15th July so I can send around a schedule.
Best, Hannah

Dear all,
Apologies for the spam, but it's for a good cause! As some of you know, I am running the Edinburgh BUPA Great Run 10k in July to raise money for UFAW.
UFAW not only sponsor our BERG meetings, but also conduct research into, and promote understanding of, animal welfare - a topic which is important to many of us and our research.
Any and all donations will be gratefully received and many thanks to those who have already volunteered donations. I now have a JustGiving page set up at http://www.justgiving.com/Laura-Hall8 so please consider donating to support UFAW in continuing their work!
Many thanks for reading,
Laura
