Bonjour à tous, Mon nom est Romain et je suis responsable d'un système de production de tilapia en circuit fermé à l'île Maurice depuis décembre 2008. J'ai étudié la biologie animale et les productions animales en France (Université Montpellier 2 et Cirad) pendant 5 ans (DEUG, Licence, Master). Je suis maintenant en charge des systèmes de production et de reproduction, ainsi que de la commercialisation et du marketing de notre poisson. Notre ferme a été construite en 2007 et depuis cette époque, nous ne sommes pas encore parvenus à atteindre les objectifs de production de notre business plan. Nous connaissons les principaux problèmes (Oxygène dissous, Ammoniac/nitrite, filtration mécanique) et nous nous sommes beaucoup améliorés. Les aspects marketing ne sont pas simples non plus, parce que le tilapia a une mauvaise réputation à Maurice+compétition du poisson du lagon. Nos objectifs sont de continuer à améliorer nos résultants, et aussi d'amplifier notre affaire. Hello everyone,
My name is Romain, and I am responsible of a RAS for Tilapia production in Mauritius since December 2008. I have been studying Animal Biology and Animal Production in France (Université Montpellier 2 & CIRAD) for 5 years (DEUG, LICENCE, MASTER). I am now in charge of the production/reproduction systems, as well as the marketing/selling of the fish. Our farm was built in 2007, and since that time we have never been able to reach the production targets of the business plan. We know what are the main problems (D.O levels, Ammonia/Nitrite, mechanical filtration) and have improved a lot since that time. The marketing aspect isn’t that easy neither because of the Tilapia’s bad reputation in Mauritius + competition of lagoon fish. Our objectives are to continue to improve our performances, and also to develop the business.
I am very glad to be part of SARNISSA and impatient to share a bit with aquaculture specialists.
