'Masquerade and modernity: performing the past in the present'

Will researches the art history of Africa and has interests more
generally in material culture, sculpture (widely defined) and theories
of the object, particularly the applicability of anthropological models
to art history. His work also explores the modernities, religions and
cultural heritage of Africa. His latest project is on the Ibadan
renaissance of the 1960s, a project that aims to draw the artistic,
literary and historical studies produced in the town of Ibadan in the
1960s into a wider relationship with the immediate postcolonial context
of the town.
