The European Doctoral College invites applications
from students
primarily from European countries who are interested in preparing a
PhD in two different institutions: one in Strasbourg and the other in
another European country of the student's choice. Applicants must have
one of the degrees required to be accepted for doctoral studies in a
French university by 15 October and must have European or associated
states citizenship. The EDC offers help with accommodation, travel
expenses and a limited number of grants to work in conjunction with
the applicant's other source or sources of funding. The European
Doctoral College accepts students in all subjects.

Admission
Conditions for final application
Allowing exceptions, European citizenship or associated states
citizenship.
Applicants must have (by the 15th of October) one of the degrees
required to be accepted for doctoral studies in a French university.
Allowing exceptions, applicants must find an external grant for their
PhD.
How to apply
List of documents to provide:
A completed, dated and signed form (to be printed)
"Letter of application", mentioning how your research will be funded
(please add details of the organizations contacted and copies of the
notifications of their decisions).
Curriculum vitae including academic records and marks at the date of
the application. For those who have already started a PhD, include a
short report on the state of your research.
Two letters of recommendation signed by :
- the supervisor in Strasbourg,
- the supervisor in the other institution.
These letters will briefly describe: the university level of the
student, the PhD project and the advantages of an international
collaboration. It can be a single letter signed by the two
supervisors.
A stamped addressed envelope (11 x 22 cm)
2 passport photographs
Copy of previous diplomas/degrees
Feel free to attach any document that could be useful to evaluate the
quality of your project.

Deadline for detailed application:
May 15th 2008 for the June selection
September 15th 2008 for the September selection
Calendar:
Applications will be examined and selected in June or September by an
International Scientific Committee. Candidates will be informed of the
results by mid July or late September. Admission generally occurs in
October, once registration at both universities is completed.
