Just to drawn your attention to the fact that there will be a 5 day UK
GRADschool at Stirling ( in the Management Centre) from June 24th - 29th
Any penultimate or final year doctoral student is eligible to attend a
national GRADschool. ( If places are available, it would be worth arguing
for a place if you would be approaching the end of your first year of
study).
These courses are free to students funded by AHRB, BBSRC, EPSRC, ESRC, MRC,
NERC or PPARC . For other students a five day course costs £655 +VAT
(£114.62 VAT)
5-day GRADschool
The traditional 5-day GRADschools are the most popular choice of course,
allowing the most time for 'digesting' what you are learning by individual
reflection and discussion in your working groups. They provide a rounded
programme of both personal and career development.
Personal development focuses on communication skills, presentation skills,
networking and creativity as well as the overriding theme of teamworking.
Career development encompasses both your PhD and your future career. Group
discussion sessions cover issues relating to the progress of your PhD, along
with suggestions on helping you gain the motivation and skills to complete
successfully. CVs for academic and non-academic posts are discussed, and a
mock interview is normally a major feature on one of the days.
