MEMBERS SOUGHT FOR STFC ECONOMIC ADVISORY BOARD The Science and Technology Facilities Council is seeking nominations for non-executive members of its Economic Impact Advisory Board.
NERC INVITES COMMENTS ON POLAR SCIENCE PLAN The National Environment Research Council invited researchers to comment on its draft priorities for polar research last week.
INVITATION TO ATTEND STFC PEER PROJECTS REVIEW PANEL The Science and Technology Facilities Council has invited all members of the STFC community to attend the next meeting of the Projects Peer Review Panel on the 25 and 26 September.
EPSRC INVITES COMMENT ON EQUALITY SCHEMES The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council has invited comment from researchers on its draft schemes for equality in the areas of disability, gender and race.
PEARSON ANNOUNCES NERC COUNCIL CHANGES
Ian Pearson, minister for science and innovation, announced the appointment of Thomas Meagher as a member of the council of the Natural Environmental Research Council on 3 August.
LMB SCIENTISTS SPIN OUT NEW DRUG DEVELOPMENT COMPANY Scientists at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge have formed a new spinout company focused on developing new drugs to tackle diseases of the nervous system or metabolism.

INTERDISCIPLINARY THINKERS INVITED TO PLAY IN INNOVATION 'SAND-PIT'
Funders are recruiting participants for a forum that aims to seed a number of multidisciplinary research and innovation consortia. The forum, nicknamed a 'sand-pit', will take the form of a residential workshop and is sponsored by the Technology Strategy Board, the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and the Economic and Social Research Council.

BRITISH ACADEMY BRINGS FORWARD POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP SCHEME The British Academy has announced that the timetable for applications for British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowships has been brought forward this year. The change is designed to give universities more time to integrate postdoctoral fellows into departmental teaching and other programmes.
RIN LOOKS AT ECONOMICS OF ACADEMIC COMMUNICATIONS The Research Information Network has commissioned Cambridge Economic Policy Associates to carry out a project assessing the economics of the academic communications process.
