Scotland and the Media: A Question of Trust

All day conference to be held at The Royal Society of Edinburgh, Tuesday
9th
March 2004

The Royal Society of Edinburgh is pleased to invite you to our forthcoming
conference Scotland and the Media: A Question of Trust. The conference will
take place on Tuesday 9th March 2004 from 9.00am until 5.00pm at The Royal
Society, 22-26 George Street .

The conference will consider issue of media ownership and the relationship
between the media and the Scottish Parliament.  Speakers will examine
whether there has been a breakdown of trust where the media is concerned
and
whether current journalism standards serve the public interest.  Delegates
will have an opportunity to hear from and speak to some of the leading
names
in politics and the media. The people who shaped post devolution Scotland,
the people who reported on these events and the people  now charged with
overseeing media regulation will all be available to answer your questions.


I have enclosed a full programme. I am sure having seen the quality of the
programme the conference programme will be of great interest to you (I have
also included a spare registration form to pass on to relevant colleagues).
To register for this event please complete the enclosed registration form.
We suggest that you return your form as soon as possible as spaces are
limited and expected to go quickly. Delegate fees are £85.00 full fee and
£55.00 concessions. Fees include refreshments throughout the day (including
hot buffet lunch) and the conference report that will be sent out to all
attendees after the event.
