[Face-research-list] Webpage

Dear all,

Just a quick message to introduce myself and let you know about the website we are already in the process of developing. I am currently a lecturer at Bournemouth University (UK), and moved here a year ago after I completed my PhD and post-doc at the University of Exeter. I am particularly interested in developmental prosopagnosia in both adults and children, and my current work is focusing on increasing our understanding of the disorder and how this increased understanding can help the development of intervention strategies.

Myself and a group of other face researchers have been putting together an application for funding for a general face-processing conference that will be followed-up with a series of workshops that focus on specific areas of face research, e.g. clinical aspects, eye-witness testimony, computerised face recognition, etc. We have given this the working title 'Facenet' (any better suggestions would be gratefully received...), and are currently in the process of developing a website that aims to have a similar function to that suggested by a few people on this list.

Many thanks to Elinor and Christian for their suggestions, and it would be great to hear any further suggestions for keywords or other ideas that would help the website.

I'll keep you all posted on progress.

Best wishes,

Sarah

Even better if someone's already working on it :)

I like Elinor's keyword categories and think that this would be very helpful. In terms of the webpage, it would perhaps be nice to have - in addition to the networking functionality - some moderated extra pages that compile lists of useful links, review papers and books, teaching resources, etc. that could be accessed easily from the main page...

Cheers,
Christian

Now we have two, because I was contacted last night by Sarah Bate, who is apparently already developing a networking site, called, reasonably enough, 'Facenet'. She's got some local funding to establish it, so it probably makes sense to go with that; feel free to post suggestions about what would be useful and I'll leave it to Sarah to see what's feasible and announce when it's ready.
