TRADUCTION DU MESSAGE DE WILL: Sarnissa a tenu son deuxième atelier annuel d'avancement et planification au Bunda College au Malawi du 8 au 9 février. Le principal objectif était de revoir les résultats et avancements de la deuxième année, tout en préparant la 3ème année. Il faut savoir que le financement de la Commission européenne s'achèvera en février 20111. Les détails sur la rencontre et les présentations peuvent être trouvés sur le site: http://bit.ly/bBiBwk Les deux jours suivants, les 10-11 février, un atelier Régional Afrique Méridionale a été tenu à Lilongwe, avec des participants d'Ouganda, de Zambie, d'Afrique du sud, du Cameroun, du Ghana et bien sûr du Malawi. Les présentations du 1er jour ont été faites par des pisciculteurs, des associations de pisciculteurs, des chercheurs, des ONG, alors que le deuxième jour a cherché à identifier les besoins de recherche de la région, avec des sessions destinées à identifier les bailleurs de fonds potentiels, à rédiger des concept notes et propositions de recherche. L'atelier a insisté sur l'importance des partenariats public/privé/commerce et la nécessité que les propositions de recherches soient tournées vers les besoins des utilisateurs finaux. SARNISSA held its second Annual Project Progress and Planning Meeting at Bunda College Malawi between 8-9th February. The main objective of the meeting was review Year two’s work and achievements whilst going on to plan activities and deliverables for Year 3 – Noting to all members that current EC funding for the SARNISSA project will finish at the end of Year 3 - by February 1st 2011.

On the following two days 10-11th February we went on to hold a Southern African Stakeholders Workshop in Lilongwe, which included participants from Uganda, Zambia, South Africa, Kenya, Cameroon, Ghana and of course Malawi. Presentations were given on the first day from a variety of fish farmers, fish farmers associations, researchers, govt and NGO sectors whilst the second day went on to identify and develop key aquaculture research and development needs in the region, with sessions on identification of potential funding sources and successful writing and submission of concept notes and research proposals. The workshop particularly emphasized the importance and value of forming public/private/commercial partnerships and also critically relating research proposals towards end users.
