Le bitume utilisé est le même que celui employé pour les réservoirs d'eau potable. Il n'est pas aussi nocif que les traitements au cuivre utilisés pour lutter contre le fouling. Cependant, il doit être renouvelé tous les ans pour étendre la durée de vie du filet. Il peut être évité mais mon expérience montre que c'est un excellent investissement et qu'il est bien moins problématique sur le plan environnemental que les apports alimentaires. The bitumen used is the same used for drinking water tanks. It is not as bad as the copper treatments used to prevent fouling. However, it needs to be re-applied after 1 year to prolong the life of the net. It can be avoided but in my experience is a very good investment and much less environmentally problematic than the feed inputs.
