[Sarnissa-french-aquaculture] Votre aide SVP/Your help please

Chers amis du forum, Par le présent, je voudrais vous briffer sur mon projet de thèse et solliciter votre aide sous toutes formes possibles. En effet, ma thèse qui porte sur le développement de l'aquaculture en Afrique a pour titre "Aspects technico-économiques d'une aquaculture durable dans les pays de la CEDEAO: cas du Togo". C'est un doctorat pluridisciplinaire (qui allie ma formation en développement rural et en sciences animales). Il vise à: - analyser les causes profondes et spécifiques des échecs du passé; - identifier les atouts, problèmes et contraintes; - établir la situation de référence; - idenditifier les leviers sur lesquels agir et des actions pertinentes à mener; - élaborer des outils d'aide à la décision (modèles de production & cartes SIG de possibilités aquacoles) Le projet est mené sous la direction de Dr Joël de la Noüe (que certains d'entre vous connaissent) et sous la supervision de la Direction de l'Élevage et de la Pêche (DEP/MAEP) en collaboration avec l'Institut Togolais de la Recherche Agronomique (ITRA). Il peut paraître très ambitieux, je l'avoue, mais il se veut une contribution concrète au développement de l'aquaculture au Togo. Il s'inspire de tout ce qui a déjà été fait dans le domaine par la FAO, le WorldFish Center, JP. Kaudjhis, etc. Lors de mon sejour à Monpellier en 2006 pour le Cours d'Aquaculture Tropicale, l'idée avait été présenté aux Profs Lazard (à qui je doit toujours un document) et Baroiller. Je retourne donc au Togo en janvier 2009 pour la seconde phase de la collecte des données et en même temps pour le lancement des activités de Poisson pour l'Afrique. Vous comprenez maintenant mon intérêt pour la partie de nos échanges qui a porté sur le développement aquacole en Afrique. Votre aide, quelle qu'elle soit, serait très appréciée. Le projet manque aussi de financement adéquat. S'il peut s'inscrire dans un programme quelconque de financement de recherche ou de bourses en votre connaissance, nous vous serions très reconnaissants de nous filer l'information. Merci d'avance. =================== Dear friends of the forum, Hereby, I would like to brief you on my thesis project and request from you assistance in any form. In fact, my thesis which relates to aquaculture development in Africa is titled “Technical and economic aspects of a sustainable aquaculture in ECAWAS countries: case study of Togo ". It is a multi-disciplinary doctorate (which combines my background in rural development and in animal sciences). It aims at: - analyzing the major and specific causes of failures of the past; - identification of the assets, problems and constraints; - establishment of the baseline - identification of levers on which to act and relevant actions to carry out; - development of decision-making tools (production models of & GIS aquaculture possibilities maps) The project is implemented under the direction of Dr. Joel de la Noüe (who some among you know already) and under the supervision of the Directorate of Livestock and Fishery (DEP/MAEP) in collaboration with the Togolese Institute of Agronomic Research (ITRA). It can appear very ambitious, I guest, but it wants to be a concrete contribution to the aquaculture development in Togo. It is inspired from all what was already done in the field by FAO, WorldFish Center, JP. Kaudjhis, etc. During my stay in Monpellier in 2006 for the Course on Tropical Aquaculture, the idea had been presented to Profs Lazard (from whom I still owe a document) and Baroiller. I’ll go back to Togo in January 2009 for the second phase of data collection and for launching of Fish for Africa’s field activities. You now understand my interest for the part of our exchanges which related to the aquaculture development in Africa. Your assistance, whatever it is, would be highly appreciated. The project also misses adequate funding. If it can fit in an unspecified research or scholarships funding programme of your knowledge, we would be very grateful to you for giving us the information. Dear Gabriel, Herewith a document by Johann Rupert, delivering the Anton Rupert Memorial Lecture for 2008, at the University of Pretoria. This University is 100 years old this year, one of the oldest and academically most respected in South Africa. The lecture deals mainly with South Africa, but a lot of the ideas/ concepts/ causes, etc are also relevant to Sub-Saharan Africa. Anton Rupert built an economic empire in South Africa, later worldwide, from the 1940's onwards. He started with literally nothing, only a good education and the will to succeed. Reading this document will highlight points 1, 2 & 4 of your questions. The fact of the matter is, we live in Africa, we are Africans, and only we Africans can make this continent work. This will only happen when we acquire the will to make this happen. The document is in English, I can only hope that someone will be able to translate it.
