Hi all,
Thanks so much for this great initiative—I fully support organising workshops and am
really looking forward to them. I agree with Matt’s suggestion about a methodology-focused
session; learning about new methods and how they can be applied across different
disciplines sounds valuable and engaging.
I’m also personally interested in topics related to behavioural economics. A few potential
themes that come to mind are:
* Behavioural barriers in market competition: How do behavioural biases shape market
structures and firm strategies
* Salience and attention in consumer markets: What drives consumer attention in
complex markets, and how can firms or policymakers respond
* Behavioural economics in policy-making: Case studies on how behavioural insights are
being (or could be) integrated into public policy.
I’m happy to help further with planning or brainstorming if needed. Looking forward to
seeing how this develops!
Best wishes,
Jasmine

Hi,
I’m so glad our ‘pub chat’ got us moving on this.
My thoughts:
1. The evidence for personalised digital health/well-being behavioural interventions –
e.g. the rise of personalised apps, health screenings, blood tests etc, are they actually
leading to better outcomes?
2. Nurturing versus Nudging: does it lead to more sustainable behaviour change? E.g.
case studies that compare simple nudges with ‘enhanced’ cognitive and motivational
approaches (educate, competence, empowerment, informed decision-making)
3. Behavioural audits and mapping service-user journeys

Hi Matthew, Liz, Jasmine and the whole PhD lab,
Thanks for your email! Glasgow will organise this one in mid May. The idea was always to
have this being organised by different groups every year. Maybe we'll do it again for
2026.
I'm up for organising other workshops though! I have more cognitive capacity from mid
March onwards.
We need a topic and 1 to 3 presentations from Stirling folks to make it worth our
effort.
Then we organise tea and lunch and make it a 'free' event (ie we don't pay for
speakers).
Any thoughts topics? Let's make a long list to pick from and think of money
afterwards.
We have one planned on the Economic Psychology of Public Approval of Environmental
Policies for September 2025.
I would like to do one on sludge and administrative burden.
Another one on the Behavioural Science of Home Energy Improvements.
Please add your suggestions here!
All the best,
Leo

Hi Leo! Hope you are doing well. ☺️
I wanted to write to enquire about taking over the organisation of the Scottish
Behavioural Science Conference for 2025.
Liz mentioned to me that your teaching workload may be too much this semester to organise
it again. If that is the case, we would be more than happy to take this on.
In fact, I am on a scholarship contract, so I am meant to be doing these kinds of things
anyway...
It was one of the best and most impactful conferences I've attended, and I was able to
connect with a handful of people (incl. Liz!) with whom I still talk almost 1 year
later.
We thought it would be a pity if it did not happen again so please let us know what you
think 😄
Best wishes,
