Dear PhD Lab,
Below is the e-mail I sent yesterday. I realize now why nobody received it. I accidentally
sent it to behsciphdlab@groups.stir.ac.uk<mailto:behsciphdlab@groups.stir.ac.uk>
(which was automatically created by MSTeams) as this one is misleadingly abbreviated
"BehSci PhD lab” in my e-mail app. Sorry about this!
You will have missed this:
The week after that is up for grabs if someone wants to present an idea/progress etc.
Perhaps Julion or Maev? No worries if nobody wants to take the slot, we can also have a
“regular” PhD Lab in which we hear equally from everyone.
In three weeks, I am gone for a conference (and I suspect the same will be true for quite
some folk at the Econ division), so no lab.
In 4 weeks, I would like to tackle Chapter 5 (Finding funding). @Johanne: Would you be up
for presenting this chapter?
In 5 weeks (the day before our Behavioural conference in Stirling), I would like Jasmine
top present the paper (published recently in the AER) that will form the basis for her
Study 2.
After that, we could switch to a monthly rhythm during the Summer break.
Here is the updated schedule for the rest of the term.
10/04/2024 Regular Lab
17/04/2024 No Lab: Scottish Economic Society Conference
24/04/2024 Jasmine: Heiss et al (2022, AER)
01/05/2024 Book Club Chapter 5 (Johanne)

Till

Dear PhD Lab,
This is a quick reminder that we are meeting tomorrow at 11AM in room 2B88 for our next
PhD Lab. See the schedule for the rest of the term below.
Please read Chapter 4 of Doing Economics in preparation of tomorrow’s session. Jayne will
kick off the discussion with a short summary of the chapter.
@Johanne: Will you be able to present Chapter 5 in three weeks’ time?
Best,
Till

Hi everyone,
Follow-up regarding the remaining PhD Lab slots this term:
03/04/2024 Book Club Chapter 4 (Jayne)
10/04/2024
17/04/2024 No Lab: Scottish Economic Society Conference
24/04/2024 Book Club Chapter 5 (TBD)
01/05/2024 Jasmine: Heiss et al (2022, AER)
Next week, we’ll have another book club session. Jayne kindly volunteered to present
Chapter 4 on Handling Peer Review. Please read this chapter ahead of next week’s lab.

Dear PhD Lab,
This is a reminder that Jasmine has her annual review presentation tomorrow, so please
attend if you can.
* When: Wednesday, 27th of March 11:00 (our usual PhD Lab slot)
* Where:
* On campus: Lecture Theatre A1 (Cottrell)
* Online:

Also, we should think about how to fill the remaining PhD Lab slots of this term:
27/03/2024 Jasmine's Annual Review
03/04/2024
10/04/2024
17/04/2024 Scottish Economic Society Conference
24/04/2024
01/05/2024
The teaching term officially ends on 17th of April, but I’m happy to continue the lab
until the end of April if there is demand. During the summer, we could switch to a monthly
rhythm – something to discuss during the PhD Lab.
This would leave us with up to four remaining slots in the Spring.
Would anyone want to present an idea/their progress in any of these slots?
@Jasmine: One of the later slots would be ideal for you to present the
Heiss/McFadden/Winter/Wuppermann paper to us.
I would also like to get another one or two chapters of the 'Doing Economics’ book
covered before the summer, so I would need one or two volunteers for this.
Please let me know if you’d like any of these slots.
Best,
Till
