Hi,
I am looking for a set of facial expressions of children for the 6 basic
emotions (happiness, sadness, fear, surprise, anger and disgust).
I am especially interested in images that are high-quality but also
received validation for their ecological validity (e.g. would be useful if
they are FACS coded and consistent with Ekman's specifications for facial
movements occuring in these emotions).
Any clues anybody?
Many thanks,
--
Chiara

Hi folks - sorry to bombard the board, but just to note that the latest post is actually not a repeat of yesterday's - despite the topic heading - it is for postgraduate studentships, also available on this project.
best,
Mike

We are very good at recognising the faces we know, but very poor when recognising or matching unfamiliar faces. This project represents an attempt to understand the cognitive and perceptual processes underlying the differences between familiar and unfamiliar face recognition. In particular, we will be studying the variability in different photos of the same face. One of the studentships will employ computational and statistical analysis of face images, and programming experience will be essential. The second studentship will focus on real-world face recognition, including forensic and security problems.

University of Aberdeen
Three Research Fellowships in Psychology
Applications are invited for three Research Fellowships in Psychology. The ERC-funded project, led by Professor Mike Burton, aims to understand aspects of face recognition in both theoretical and applied settings. One of these posts will involve computational and experimental research, and candidates should have a strong background in programming. The second post will be focussed primarily on laboratory experiments, while the third will focus on applied research in real-world settings. Candidates for all positions will need a good track-record in experimental research.
The posts will be offered for a period of up to 4 years, and salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6 scale. For full details, and application procedure, see www.abdn.ac.uk/jobs<http://www.abdn.ac.uk/jobs> Closing date for applications is 6 May.
Informal enquiries may be made to Professor Mike Burton (Tel. 01224 273930; email m.burton(a)abdn.ac.uk<mailto:m.burton@abdn.ac.uk>).

FAO: Experts in face identification / unfamiliar face matching
Dear face researchers,
I am compiling a list of ''Results that practitioners should know about human face matching performance'", for an article to appear in a Passport Industry magazine (ICAO MRTD report). By 'practitioners' I mean policy makers who design processes for verifying the identity of both passport applicants (e.g. passport issuance), and passport holders (e.g. border control). This process requires people to make 'face matching' decisions, i.e. 'are these images of the same person or of two different people?'
I'd like to give the industry some good advice from experts in the field, so that they might develop methods to improve ID verification procedures. Therefore, I am conducting a brief survey:
If you have a few minutes to spare, I wonder if you might be able to help me compile this list - by giving thought to 5 'kernels of knowledge' that you would choose to implant in the practitioners' head. Once you have a list (needn't be 5, could be any number), I would be much obliged if you could forward to me, and include any references that you would like to point towards.
Kindly e-mail to: david.white(a)unsw.edu.au<mailto:david.white@unsw.edu.au>
I will also compile a report of this survey and circulate to the respondents.
Best wishes,
David

Hi
This is Afshin Dehghan, PhD student in Computer Science in Center for
Research in Computer Vision.
We are interested in the problem of matching photos of children with photos
of their parents and needs a data set.
Do you happen to have paired photos of children and one or both of their
parents?
We can go through any process of licensing and agreement and would
appreciate any help.
Cheers

I believe Bob French might have a collection, as he wrote a paper showing that the result that babies look more like their fathers is not replicable.
