Research Associate - UNSW Sydney - Face Lab
The Research Associate will be based at UNSW Sydney Face Lab (whitelab.au<http://whitelab.au/>) and will work as part of a team funded by an Australian Research Council Discovery Project investigating human perception of AI-generated faces. The role involves a mix of computational and behavioural work on the topic of synthetic face detection, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team of researchers spread across UNSW Psychology (David White & James Dunn), UNSW Computer Science (Gelareh Mohammadi), and ANU Psychology (Amy Dawel). It is a full-time, 18-month position at Level A ($113k–$121k + 17% super).
We're looking for someone with a PhD in Computer Science, Psychology, or a related cognitive/neural science, and strong expertise in machine learning / deep learning. Interest and experience at the intersection of psychology and AI — explainable AI, computational modelling of cognition — would be particularly valuable.
