Three Year Post-Doctoral Position on Psychological Mechanisms of Meat Reduction at
University of Zurich
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher in the areas of personality,
motivation, and adult development to work primarily with Christopher J. Hopwood and also
with Alexandra M. Freund in the Department of Psychology at the University of Zurich
(Switzerland).
https://jobs.uzh.ch/offene-stellen/postdoctoral-researcher-project-psycholo…
Research will focus on psychological mechanisms of meat reduction using a multi-method
approach spanning cross-cultural, experimental, behavioral, ambulatory, and self/peer
report survey methods. Primary emphasis will be on data from two projects for which data
have already been collected on cross-cultural variation on attitudes about animal welfare
and processes relevant to animal consumption in close relationships, as well as a
longitudinal study with a meat-reduction intervention component for which data collection
will begin in Fall, 2023. However, there will also be opportunities to engage in other
projects, including those initiated by the post-doc.
The post-doc will be able to strengthen their research portfolio as well as their teaching
credentials by teaching a 2-hour weekly seminar per semester and assist in the supervision
of masters and bachelors' theses.
The 100% appointment for three years, ideally starting August 1, 2023. The annual salary
is based on the Swiss public pay scale (approximately 100,000 Swiss Francs), and standard
University benefits are included.
The candidate should hold a Ph.D. in psychology and have extensive research experience in
the fields of personality, motivation, and/or adult development, a demonstrated interest
in meat reduction, very good methodological and statistical skills, publication experience
in peer-reviewed journals, and a willingness and ability to work in a team.
International applications are strongly encouraged. English proficiency is a must;
knowledge of German is helpful, but not required.
To apply, submit a cover letter (about 1 page) describing your interest in and potential
approach to investigating meat reduction, as well as your general career goals, together
with your curriculum vitae, and two of your articles in one pdf file to:

remain open until the position is filled.
Please contact Professor Hopwood if you require more information about the position.
