Our first meeting is a week today - Wednesday 22nd September at 5.30pm in the Psychology Common Room (drinks, nibbles, introductions and a catch up on summer news!).
I am pleased that there has been a good response to my plea for presentations.
We still have a few spaces though - as I write there is still availability on:
29th September, 3rd , 10th November and 15th December.
Please consider signing up for one of those dates - http://www.doodle.com/i82m7hep72armu78

Dear all,
Just a reminder about this tomorrow's BERG meeting. Sophia Daoudi, one of our current final year students, will be presenting research that she carried out on the capuchins and squirrel monkeys at the Living Links facility at Edinburgh Zoo last summer as a bursary project, working with Hannah Buchanan-Smith.
The meeting starts at 5.30pm as per usual, in the Psychology common room (3A94 Cottrell). Drinks and nibbles will be provided.
Hope to see you there.
Christine.
Dear all,
Unfortunately, Lou Tasker has had to cancel her talk for BERG, which was originally scheduled for tomorrow (Wed 28 April) so we have no meeting this week. Lou has rescheduled for 19 May instead. We have another change to the schedule for next week too, because Darren McGarry from RZSS has also had to cancel. However, Darren has arranged for someone else to come along from the zoo in his place. So next week we will have a talk from Simon Girling, the Head Veterinary Surgeon at RZSS. Simon will be giving a talk on veterinary medicine in conservation.
The revised schedule is available at: http://www.psychology.stir.ac.uk/research/BERGmeetings.php
Christine.
Dear All,
Apologies
for any cross posting but I would be very grateful if you could pass on the
information to any parties that may be interested in the following events being
held at Howletts and Port Lympne later this year:
The Third Student Environmental Enrichment Course (SEEC): July 26th - 29th
Due to the continued success and high demand the third SEEC will be running
at Howletts and Port Lympne this July. This course is designed specifically for
college and university students (past or present) who do not currently work
within a zoo setting, but are looking to do so as a career. The course aim is
to provide valuable experience and an overview of additional useful skills to a
would-be keeper's CV. Please note you must be 18 or over to attend this course.
The Second UK ‘The Shape of Enrichment' Workshop: Sept 6th - 9th
Howletts and Port Lympne hosted the 1st UK Shape workshop in
March 2009 and is very pleased to announce that Valerie Hare is returning in
Sept to run a second 4 day workshop aimed at keepers, managers, supervisors,
curators, and veterinarians working in this field.
Places for both are limited so please
register early to avoid disappointment. For more information please visit:

Just some extra information about the BERG meeting tomorrow - Blake Morton's presentation will be on "Asian Ape Resource Cognition: Cross-Species Comparison in Use and Visitation to Food Trees".
Christine.
Dear all,
Just a reminder about tomorrow's BERG meeting. Blake Morton will be presenting. We start at 5.30pm as per usual in the Psychology common room (3A94 Cottrell). Drinks and nibbles will be provided.
Also, unfortunately Lou Tasker is now unable to present next week (28 April) as originally planned. Her talk has been rescheduled to 19 May. This means we have a slot free next week, so if anyone has anything that they would like to present (or a journal article they would like to discuss), then please just let me know. Thanks.
Hope to see you at tomorrow's meeting.
Christine.
Dear all,
Just a reminder about tomorrow's BERG meeting. Becky Leonardi (one of our final year undergraduates) will be giving a presentation about her dissertation project on exchange behaviour in dogs. We start at 5.30pm as usual in the Psychology common room (3A94 Cottrell). Drinks and nibbles will be provided.
Hope to see you there!
Christine.
