The standard of student applications was extremely high again and, like last year, we could have awarded the 16 studentships available several times over. I am sorry to let you know that we were unable to fund your cluster in this studentship round. As last year, I would be more than happy to organise a 1-2-1 feedback session to explain more about our decisions. I should reiterate, though, that the competition was extremely tough and had more studentships been available then we would have been able to fund a wider range of projects. Thanks Till, Gözde and team for all the organising! It was a strong effort, but disappointing news particularly as there were some fantastic candidates shortlisted (hopefully the very strongest could perhaps be contacted and encouraged/supported to apply for external funding?). I agree it could be a good theme for a DTC nevertheless!
