Thanks Till, Gözde and team for all the organising! It was a strong effort, but disappointing news particularly as there were some fantastic candidates shortlisted (hopefully the very strongest could perhaps be contacted and encouraged/supported to apply for external funding?).  I agree it could be a good theme for a DTC nevertheless!

Best wishes,

Clare

So sorry Gozde. This is very disappointing. The idea of DTC sounds like a nice next move. Thank you and Till for organising everything for this call.

Best

Hello

Sorry to be the bearer of not positive news on a Friday!

Till is away so I thought I’d send a message to you all.

Thank you all for your hard work on this cluster – I’m sorry that it was not rewarded.

Maybe we should think about a Doctoral training centre application.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Gozde

Dear Till,

The IAS panel met on Tuesday 14 May to review the studentship cluster responses submitted in this year’s competition. The panel considered all aspects of the cluster proposal and student qualifications and experience in coming to its decisions. The standard of student applications was extremely high again and, like last year, we could have awarded the 16 studentships available several times over.

I am sorry to let you know that we were unable to fund your cluster in this studentship round.

As last year, I would be more than happy to organise a 1-2-1 feedback session to explain more about our decisions. I should reiterate, though, that the competition was extremely tough and had more studentships been available then we would have been able to fund a wider range of projects.

With many thanks

Iain.
