Sir-

In a story on your website entitled "Video claims to show downing of UK
plane," posted at 7.47PM, Mon Jan 31 2005 the following lines were
included:

"A military source said the death toll is "around ten", and "highly
unlikely" to be more than 15. If so, it would be the biggest single loss of
life since the start of the war in March 2003."

I object to the second sentence. I believe you are referring to loss of
British lives rather than all lives lost in the war. There have been many
instances of more lives lost than 10-15 amongst the Iraqi population.

Your reporter should be more careful when making such claims as these sort
of statements can be interpreted as holding one nationality's life more
valuable than another.
