STIRLING GRADUATE RESEARCH SCHOOL

Publishing your Research

Professor John Field, DAICE and Director of SGRS

21st April 2004 at 2pm - 4pm
2A17, Cottrell Building

This session examines the techniques and pathways by which graduate students
may achieve publication of their research output. The session will cover
each stage of the process, including the identification and targeting of
potential publishers, the writing and presentation of proposals in an
increasingly competitive academic marketplace, and the conversion of thesis
materials into publishable texts.

Three categories of academic publishing will be considered: books, journal
articles, and essays for edited volumes. John Field has published many
examples of each, and regularly reviews book and article proposals for major
academic publishers in the UK.
