Hi Mike,

I work here at Stirling and recently submitted a grant proposal with Peter Hancock to develop an affective image data set. We would be extremely keen to review the video materials you mention, even if the actual footage is a little dated it will certainly help us to develop more current materials,

best wishes

Alex

Hi All,
Just wanted to intoduce myself. I'm probably the most junior member here!
Currently I'm working on my undergraduate disstertation looking at methods
to reduce the other race effect. I'm supervised by Peter Hancock who has
also employed me on summer bursaries here at Stirling University. I'm
interested in several aspects of face recognition other than the other race
effect especially failures in face processing and processing differences
between familiar and unfamiliar faces.
I'm hoping to do a face research related PhD as soon as I graduate this
summer.

Best,
Catherine

CNBC maintains are fairly extensive stimulus repository, including the
tarrlab face stimuli (face-place.org). See:

http://stims.cnbc.cmu.edu/

I am happy to add links to other databases if you send me the link and
short description. Moreover, if you have a database of stimuli you would
like to distribute, we are happy to host it - we have a very extensive
and well maintained server system, so we do provide a stable and secure
locale for keeping such things (e.g., URL won't change once set, etc.)

Secondly, for anyone collecting face images with affect, please see the
face-place images. We used a method suggested by Alice O'Toole - having
subjects watch movies and video taping them in the process. Using the
right movie clips, we are able to prompt very realistic expressions -
much more compelling than the FACS faces (which look like cartoons). We
have a CD of movies clips and a protocol that one is welcome to use, but
it is probably dated in that the clips are now 5 or so years old and
maybe not what is currently considered funny or scary or disgusting (and
maybe never were in the UK)

Best, Mike
