Dear Sarnissa Members, I am pleased to join Sarnissa. Allow me to introduce myself briefly. I have been in tropical fish farming from about 1989, first as research technician for the Univ. of Liège - CERER at the time and now known as CEFRA (Tihange - Belgium). I have then joined the Gabriel Group and took an assignment in Zimbabwe in 1992 (supported by the CDE), starting what has become Lake Harvest. I have a special thought today for Robert and Rudi Gabriel whom have left us (Robert in 2009 and Rudi just recently - they have accounted a lot for me and many other "fish guys" in their professional life). I have been involved in fish farming and fish marketing ever since 1989. As you know, fish farming makes you travel a lot; in my case mainly in Africa and Latin America. Today, I run my small company - Lobbel - which trades fish from Africa (Nile perch & tilapia) and I am also coming back in the consulting world with the aim to continue to contribute to fish farming development in Africa. I hope that I will be able to bring a bit of my experience somehow to Sarnissa. J'ai passé ma vie professionnelle dans l'aquaculture tropicale depuis 1989, en commençant au CERER (Université de Liège) comme technicien de recherche. J'ai ensuite rejoins le Groupe Gabriel en 1992 pour développer un projet pilote à Kariba - Zimbabwe qui est devenu par la suite Lake Harvest. Je voudrais en profiter pour évoquer aujourd'hui la mémoire de Robert et Rudi Gabriel qui nous ont quittés prématurément (Robert en 2009 et Rudi il y a 3 semaines). Ils ont compté beaucoup dans ma vie professionnelle et celle de nombreux autres. Depuis, j'ai été actif dans l'aquaculture et le marketing de poissons africains. L'aquaculture tropicale fait évidemment voyager beaucoup; en ce qui me concerne, principalement en Afrique et Amérique du Sud. Aujourd'hui, je m'occupe de ma petite société - Lobbel - qui se consacre d'une part à la commercialisation de poisson (africains: perche du Nil et tilapia) et d'autre part à la consultance technique et commerciale. J'espère apporter un peu de mon expérience dans Sarnissa. A tous, je souhaite une excellente année 2011.
