The bilingual atlas
« Water, agriculture and poverty in the Niger River Basin » coordinated by the G-EAU joint research unit and the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD) is freely available to download
here.
Targeted at policymakers, engineers and students, this publication presents the basin's hydrological and agricultural characteristics before highlighting the need for institutional and sectorial policies to ensure innovations reduce the vulnerability of populations and ecosystems.
This research was commissioned as part of a CGIAR initiative, which seeks to face rising food and water insecurity in large river basins resulting from natural and human changes (climate, dams, irrigation, etc.).
