TRAINING PROGRAM FOR YOUNG PROFESSIONALS (TPYP-3)
Aquaculture Training Opportunity (10 positions available, Starting from May 15,2023)

Duration: 15th May to 3rd September
Description: Ten (10) commercial-aquaculture trainee positions will be available beginning 15th May
2023. Location of internship will be at Flosell farms, LLC (Sogakope, Ghana). The training comes with
a stipend and will also give students an opportunity to learn skills associated with the operation of a
commercial tilapia farm. Some of the skills include fish biology, brood fish management, larval and
juvenile fish rearing, fish disease management, water quality management and culture system operation.
Additionally, selected candidates will take part in lectures and seminars conducted physically and
virtually on topics associated with successful fish farming practices.
These seminars will be conducted by WISHH aquaculture consultants who have teaching experiences
from various universities around the world. Trainees will also be required to write a summary paper of
skills and lessons obtained during this learning experience to receive final payment. Certificate of
training will be issued.
Benefits: Trainees will receive a stipend of an amount of $400 (USD; payable in 2 installments) plus
lodging, 1 meal per day, and some local travel for the term of the internship.
Application Requirements: Applicants must be either enrolled and in good academic standing at any
credible university (University of Ghana, University of Cape Coast, Kwame Nkrumah University of
Science and Technology, etc.) and at least a Junior (60/5 of class work completed) or recently (within
3 years) graduated from the university or an agricultural college.
Applicants must have excellent English Language skills and should submit a letter of application
detailing experience in aquaculture, reasons for applying for this internship, and career goals.
Additionally, a letter of recommendation must be submitted. Candidate applications will be assessed by
WISHH and Flosell Farms and interviews completed before final selection. Selected applicants will be
required to provide their own transportation to Ghana and meet immigration requirements (Foreigners)
and those from Ghana will also be required to cater for their own transportation to the training site.
