To Follow up we will be in 3Y2 again.

To PhDs if you can coordinate perhaps a single slot with multiple PhDs might be an idea worth considering?

Dear all,

This is a gentle reminder that Prof Corrado Di Maria (UEA) is delivering a (in person) talk to our Division on 24 May at 1 pm (room TBC).

His talk is titled:  "The effect of climate policy on productivity and cost pass-through in the German manufacturing sector" (joint with Beat Hintermann, Leo Picard, Maja Zarkovic and Ulrich Wagner).

Corrado has a strong background as a theory guy (environment and technological change, but also growth and macro-theory) and often joins teams of empirical researchers to write empirical papers. He is also pretty successful in capturing grants. For more info, check Hector's email below.

Can I please invite all of you -- including PhD students -- to be around that day?

You should have received a calendar invitation, can you please RSVP so we know how many of us are going to be around and available? It would be great if you can also fill in the schedule for the day:

Schedule can be edited here: https://stir-my.sharepoint.com/:x:/g/personal/hg10_stir_ac_uk/ETm88dL1rHBMmU08HMWkAYUBdSRkoWPNntsOnkMsLaE4GQ?e=UA92mL

Best wishes,
Mirko

Subject: Corrado Di Maria (UEA) Presentation
When: 24 May 2023 13:00-14:30.
Where: TBC

Dear Colleagues,

We will be welcoming Corrado Di Maria (UEA) to present on "The effect of climate policy on productivity and cost pass-through in the German manufacturing sector" (joint with Beat Hintermann, Leo Picard, Maja Zarkovic and Ulrich Wagner) A paper will be circulated closer to the date.

Bio

Corrado is a Professor in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics. His broad research interests span environmental and natural resource economics, energy economics, the economics of growth and development as well as technological change. The key feature of his work is an emphasis on both theoretical and empirical aspects, as well as its policy relevance.

Corrado’s most recent research covers several aspects of the interaction between environmental policy and natural resource use, the taxation of exhaustible resources, emissions trading schemes and their efficiency-promoting features, the role of skills in the process of economic growth, and environmental policy in the presence of directed technological change. Students interested in any (or all) of these themes are welcome to get in touch to discuss the possibility of supervision.

Prior to joining the University of East Anglia, Corrado worked at the University of Birmingham, Queen's University Belfast, and the University College Dublin. He obtained his PhD degree from Tilburg University in the Netherlands, having previously studied in Rome, Milan and Vienna.

Corrado’s CV can be found here.

Schedule can be edited here: https://stir-my.sharepoint.com/:x:/g/personal/hg10_stir_ac_uk/ETm88dL1rHBMmU08HMWkAYUBdSRkoWPNntsOnkMsLaE4GQ?e=UA92mL

As ever, I strongly urge you guys to sign up for slots to chat to Corrado. This is obviously important for faculty, but goes doubly so for PhD students. This is a unique opportunity to talk about your reach with others and you can gain some real insights by talking to others. Please do not be shy.

Dinner

We will also need volunteers to come out for dinner with Corrado. This invitation is also extended to PhDs (dinner is paid for by the division).
