Hi folks,
Thank you for taking part in the doodle poll
Wednesday 13:00–14:30 looks like the winner. (Craig: you put “if need be” for that slot but the slots that were ‘green’ for you were strictly not possible for other folks)
Runner up is: Thursday 13:00–14:30.
Liz will try to find us a room for Wednesday or (if this fails) for Thursday. (Thanks, Liz, as always!)
Best,
Till

Folks,
Please see the call by Sai Ding below for faculty to attend the RES PhD conference. There's some nice sessions perhaps of interest to faculty.
If you're a PhD and not presenting you should definitely be attending it will be super useful.
Best,

Dear Heads of Economics and SGPE directors
Next month the Royal Economic Society PhD Conference<https://res.org.uk/res-symposium-of-junior-researchers/> will take place at the University of Glasgow on Friday the 9th June.
With all your great support, our cross-Scotland student committee (consisting of PhD students from Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Strathclyde, St Andrews, Stirling and Glasgow) has come up with an exciting conference program!
The two keynote speakers include Dr Adam S. Posen<https://www.piie.com/experts/senior-research-staff/adam-s-posen>, President of Peterson Institute for International Economics, who will talk on ‘Global Economic Policy and Economic Careers’ and Prof Herve Moulin<https://www.gla.ac.uk/schools/business/staff/hervemoulin/>, who will share his experience on how to get published with the students.
More than 80 students from Europe and the UK will come and present their work. Apart from the peer-to-peer review and networking opportunities, the students will significantly benefit from the interactions with academic colleagues and appreciate any feedback from us. The conference falls within the week of Adam Smith 300<https://www.gla.ac.uk/explore/adamsmith300/events/tercentenaryweek/> celebration where many interesting academic events take place. Therefore, can you please kindly pass this conference information to your colleagues in case that they have plan to come to Glasgow and may attend some parts of the conference even for 1-2 hours to support the students?
I attach the latest conference program in case this is useful. There may be some last-minute changes of the presentations, but all session time is fixed. Please encourage your colleagues to register their attendance via this booking link<https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/res-phd-conference-2023-tickets-570537070737>!
Many thanks.
Best wishes.

Subject: Agenda for tomorrow RE: Lab Meetings - Days/times
Hi All,
Liz – do we have a room booked for tomorrow? I’ve noted 11am – 12pm 3X11but thought I’d double check. I’ll be there in person.
All – Thanks for providing your availability for the next few months. I think we have a few possible dates each month when everyone could dial in. We can firm up tomorrow:
April: Meeting tomorrow
May: 17th – 26th
June: 19th and 20th and 23rd
July: 27th and 28th
August: looking free from 7th onwards
Any ad-hoc calls can be agreed among individuals.
All Agenda – I have updated the agenda for tomorrow to include Liz discussing her next paper and Jasmine and I just high-level discussion of our next steps over the summer, as well as a few other admin things (conferences). Please add in any other topics to cover and circulate.
Let me know if I have forgotten anything.
Thanks
Katie

Subject: Lab Meetings - Days/times
Hi All,
I was setting up a Doodle poll but it looked way too complicated and that it would take way too much time to complete. Not sure this is any less complicated but here goes.
So – for the next few months, we need to agree a time for a monthly Lab Teams call. I’ve reverted back to good old tables below and filled in the dates we already know arenot available.
CANNOT DO - coloured
General (yellow) – these days were not good for some people - 1-12 May; 19 May; 30 May
Katie (grey) – can’t do Thursdays
Simon (green) – Paternity leave 11 April – 3 May
Liz (blue) – Annual review last week in May - TBC
