Hi all,
Here is a date for your calendar. On March 13, Prof Pete Lunn will give a research seminar for us. Do join! This will be really relevant for behavioural science and will build on the I-Frame vs S-frame discussions that everybody talks about these days. It will be in Campus Central CC 3_04 at 12.30. We will send a reminder.
Pete will also join us for the BSMP003 Seminar later that day at 4pm in 2B42. We will talk about behavioural science, and I promise that it will be interesting. You are also invited to this session.
There will be a drink and dinner later as well, but this would be at everybody's own expense.
Have a look at Pete's website and the website of his group. You will see this is a treasure trove of good ideas at the cutting edge of applied behavioural science.

All the best,

Hi all,
Shall we pencil in a date for hiking up Dumyat? And potentially heading to the pub afterwards??
It is probably best if we do it once the teaching semester has finished?

And another interesting opportunity.
Last year, Stirling hosted the the 1st Scottish Behavioural Sciences Conference (at which some of you presented with great success). The idea is that hosting this conference rotates among Universities in Scotland and this year, it’s U o Glasgow’s turn.
See their call for papers below. Please discuss with your supervisors whether to submit a paper. As PhDs you can also register as a non-presenter, so this would be the default fall back.
Best,
Till

Dear PhD Lab,
IAS is offering a series of sessions that look really interesting and I encourage you to check them out (see below).
Especially the three Interviews for Rsearchers sessions and the CV Preparation sessions look very promising. I will probably sign up myself and see what they cover, as we are planning similar sessions within the lab (Autumn term), too. But if you have time, you should book into these sessions as well.
Details below.

Hi Matthew, Liz, Jasmine and the whole PhD lab,
Thanks for your email! Glasgow will organise this one in mid May. The idea was always to have this being organised by different groups every year. Maybe we'll do it again for 2026.
I'm up for organising other workshops though! I have more cognitive capacity from mid March onwards.
We need a topic and 1 to 3 presentations from Stirling folks to make it worth our effort.
Then we organise tea and lunch and make it a 'free' event (ie we don't pay for speakers).
Any thoughts topics? Let's make a long list to pick from and think of money afterwards.
We have one planned on the Economic Psychology of Public Approval of Environmental Policies for September 2025.
I would like to do one on sludge and administrative burden.
Another one on the Behavioural Science of Home Energy Improvements.
Please add your suggestions here!
All the best,
Leo

Subject: Taking over conference organisation
Hi Leo! Hope you are doing well. ☺️
I wanted to write to enquire about taking over the organisation of the Scottish Behavioural Science Conference for 2025.
Liz mentioned to me that your teaching workload may be too much this semester to organise it again. If that is the case, we would be more than happy to take this on.
In fact, I am on a scholarship contract, so I am meant to be doing these kinds of things anyway...
It was one of the best and most impactful conferences I've attended, and I was able to connect with a handful of people (incl. Liz!) with whom I still talk almost 1 year later.
We thought it would be a pity if it did not happen again so please let us know what you think 😄
Best wishes,

Dear PhD Lab,
As announced during yesterday’s PhD Lab, the BSMP Thesis Development Sessions got moved from Wednesday afternoons to Tuesday afternoons, which means that there is no more clash with our lab.
It would be great if you could join these sessions, as our MSc BehSc students would surely benefit from your collective feedback. Here are the dates:
* 18/02/2025 – 13:00-15:00: Thesis Development Session I [Room 2B86]
* 25/03/2025 – 13:00-16:00: Thesis Development Session II [Room TBA]
Best,
Till
