G5) Rotary Foundation World Peace Travel Abroad Student Scholarship Deadline: 1 March 2004. Rotary Foundation World Peace Travel Abroad Student Scholarship offer individuals committed to peace and conflict resolution the opportunity to pursue a two-year master's-level degree in international studies, peace studies, and conflict resolution at one of the seven Rotary Centers. They also have comprehensive programs in related fields, such as international law, public health, natural resources and environment, and education and literacy, any of which will provide Rotary World Peace Scholars with appropriate supplemental study opportunities. Applicants must have: the academic background, training, and work experience required for a master's-level program at the partner universities; proficiency in more than one language (even if they propose to study in a country where their native language is spoken); excellent leadership skills; a demonstrated commitment to peace and international understanding through their personal and community service activities and/or academic and professional achievements; and citizenship in a country where there is a Rotary club. Application must be made through a local Rotary club in the applicant's legal or permanent residence, or place of full-time study or employment. The scholarship will include funding for the following: tuition and required fees; room and board; transportation; and contingency expenses. Seventy scholars will be selected each year. Ten scholars will be assigned to each of the seven Rotary Centers. Scholars will be assigned to a center outside of their home country. Rotary Centers in the Northern Hemisphere will begin their programs in August, September, or October. Rotary Centers in the Southern Hemisphere will begin their programs in February or March. The purpose of these grants is to help defray living, travel, and related costs incurred while doing research in the textual and non-textual holdings of the library.
