Unique PhD opportunity in Face Recognition at UNSW Sydney **Deadline for Expressions of

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic PhD student to join our face recognition team
at UNSW Sydney. The position is open to both Australian and International applicants, and
we are inviting applications from graduates in all areas of cognitive science.
The PhD will be funded by UNSW's Scientia Scholarship scheme, which is seeking
scholars with a strong commitment to making a difference in the world. Successful
applicants will be funded for 4 years with a stipend of $40k per annum (plus an additional
$10k p/a travel and support package). In addition, international students will be awarded
a tuition fee scholarship for 4 years. UNSW Scientia Scholars will also benefit from

The successful applicant will be supervised by cognitive psychologists David White,
Richard Kemp and Alice Towler from the UNSW Forensic Psychology Group

http://forensic.psy.unsw.edu.au/). They will conduct original research that complements
our ongoing interest in people with superior abilities in face identification. Our group
has many active research partnerships with leading academics as well as government and
industry experts in this field, and we expect the research project to benefit from these
linkages.
We invite applications from graduates in psychology and those with complementary
backgrounds in other areas of cognitive science. A computer science background is not
essential. We are also very interested to hear from applicants with experience in
government and private research sectors.
