RESEARCH ASSISTANT POST
Applications are invited for the post of Research Assistant in the Department of Psychology (part time 2 days per week, temporary 12 month contract) to work on a project using eye tracking to explore visual distraction and learning in pupils functioning on the Autism Spectrum. The project will provide a detailed understanding of how pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorders cope with learning in typical classroom environments. Therefore the Research Assistant will work closely with schools to conduct research using eye tracking methods. The successful applicant should therefore have excellent research skills as well as good organisational and interpersonal skills for working with both the research team and liaising with schools.
The project is funded by the British Academy and the successful applicant will work under the supervision of Dr Mary Hanley and Dr Debbie Riby, Department of Psychology, Durham University. Informal enquiries should be made to Dr Debbie Riby, deborah.riby(a)durham.ac.uk<mailto:deborah.riby@durham.ac.uk>.

Research Fellow in Psychology
Applications are invited for a Research Fellowship in Psychology. The project, led by Professor Mike Burton, aims to understand aspects of face recognition in both theoretical and applied settings. The Research Fellow will work on the computational modelling part of the project, primarily applying statistical operations (e.g. PCA) to graphical representations of faces. A strong background in programming is therefore required, preferably in Matlab.
This post is funded by the ERC, and is offered until 31 May 2017. Salary range is Grade 6: £30,424 to £33,230 depending on experience. For full details, and application procedure, see www.abdn.ac.uk/jobs<http://www.abdn.ac.uk/jobs> Closing date for applications is 19 August.
Informal enquiries may be made to Mike Burton (Tel. 01224 273930; email m.burton(a)abdn.ac.uk<mailto:m.burton@abdn.ac.uk>).
The University of Aberdeen is a charity registered in Scotland, No SC013683.
Could you please post this to the face-research-list?
The Face Research Lab (run by Lisa DeBruine & Ben Jones) at the University of Glasgow has a vacancy for a 5-month RA/Postdoc position starting in September 2013 (the start date may be somewhat flexible). The project involves finishing data collection on a longitudinal study of face preference versus actual mate choice. The application deadline is 14 August.

Dear all,
I'm looking for CCTV clips and facial images of the actors, preferably from different angles.
Is anyone aware of such stimuli set that isn't the FRL database from the Home Office?
Many thanks,

PhD studentship in Computational Aspects of Face Recognition
Applications are invited for a PhD studentship starting in October 2013, to work with Professor Mike Burton. Candidates should hold a First or Upper Second class degree in Psychology, Computing Science, or a related subject. The studentship is funded by the European Research Council, and funding will cover UK/EU fees and a stipend at research council rates.
To apply, please send a CV and letter of application to Joanne Brebner, at the School of Psychology, University of Aberdeen, (j.brebner(a)abdn.ac.uk). Informal enquiries prior to application may be made to Mike Burton: m.burton(a)abdn.ac.uk or 01224 273930. The closing date is 9 August, 2013.
Further Information: This studentship is part of a large-scale project on face recognition. We will be studying the way in which faces become familiar, specifically by examining the variance among different images of the same face. The student will focus on computational modelling of the statistical properties of face images, and will work within a team employing both simulation and experimental methods. Programming experience is essential, and some experience in image processing would be an advantage.
