Dear Colleagues and friends,
Thank you for registering for
The Big Fish Series free online seminars brought to you by the University of Stirling’s
Institute of Aquaculture and co-hosts.
The purpose of this series is to highlight Seafood’s Roles in Sustainable Food Systems.
‘Is Aquaculture Breaking Into the Global Food System’ is the third seminar of the series
co-hosted by the
Center on Food Security and the Environment (FSE), Stanford University.
Twenty years ago, a highly influential review was published in Nature ‘Effect of Aquaculture on World Fish Supplies’. The review outlined aquaculture as a possible solution,
and a contributing factor, to the decline in fisheries stocks worldwide. In this seminar will be looking back at 20 years of aquaculture and seeing how things have changed since the release of this review.
The format of the seminar is a short presentation of the key issues followed by a video
mash-up of academic, industry and consumer views and an interactive discussion on the topic with a diverse panel of experts.
We would like to invite you to attend the seminar and to participate in the event by providing
your views on the topic in a short 30 second video. Could you video yourself giving us your personal views/story on
ONE of the following questions?
How has aquaculture changed in the context you are personally familiar with over the last 20 years?
Has aquaculture changed access to food for you and your family? Has fish become more or less affordable?
In what ways has aquaculture transformed livelihoods in the area you live?
Please send your short video messages in mp4 format to
aqua@stir.ac.uk.
For more details and to register for our seminar please visit The Big Fish Series

We look forward to hearing your thoughts and to seeing you at the seminar.
With many thanks,
Dave
