The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team of researchers working on the evolutionary origins of language. We aim to shortlist applicants with an MSc or MA degree, a relevant training background (evolutionary biology, primatology, phonetics, linguistics, or similar), strong interest in animal communication and language, and (advanced) data analysis and scientific writing skills. The qualitative research project is being conducted in South America and involves interviews with elders. The study is financed by an international NGO dedicated to the protection of vulnerable groups and has official backing by local authorities as well as approval by an ethics committee. The researcher would join a small multidisciplinary research team in a prominent position and would lead the data analysis and the collaborative work for publication of results. Contractual compensation for research work is offered.
