Amongst other topics, she will review how calf housing affects their abilities to learn, and how motivated adult cows are to learn. Dr. Meagher is currently an Assistant Professor of Animal Welfare at Dalhousie University, focusing mainly on mink and dairy cattle. Her research interests include welfare assessment methods, effects of the early environment, and understanding and managing individual differences. Her work on the environments of calves and heifers examines how these factors affect both cognition and emotional states such as boredom.
