Subject: UFAW Animal Welfare Student Scholarship meeting
Dear UFAW LINK,
Please find attached the programme for the forthcoming annual UFAW Animal Welfare Student
Scholars meeting. This year, The Royal Veterinary College's Centre for Animal Welfare
has kindly agreed to host the meeting. The venue and date for these talks are as follows:
Venue: Centre for Animal Welfare, The Royal Veterinary College (Hawkshead Campus), North
Mymms, Hatfield AL9 7TA, UK
Date: Wednesday 11th December 2013, 10.00am - 5.00pm.
These meeting feature talks from the current UFAW AWSS on the research they carried out as
part of their scholarship (and from HSA's Dorothy Sidley Memorial Scholarship
Students). These meetings have always proved to entertaining and informative and the
standard of the talks good.
We'd be grateful if you could share details of this meeting with your colleagues and
would be very happy to see you at the meeting. As the day is primarily student focused
however, can we particularly encourage you to tell your students about it, especially any
who might be considering applying for a UFAW scholarship award in 2013-14? In previous
years, the current and past animal welfare student scholars who attend have proved to be
very effective in encouraging others to apply also and to pursue a career in the field of
animal welfare science. As usual, this meeting is free to all, with lunch and refreshments
provided.
Directions and travel information on getting to The RVC can be found here:
http://www.rvc.ac.uk/About/Campuses/HawksheadTravel.cfm. Accommodation close to The RVC
can be found by entering 'AL9 7TA accommodation' into Google maps.
For those of you who do decide to attend, can I ask that you let me know in advance so
that I can ensure that we have sufficient catering in place to meet your needs? Indeed,
some of you may decide that you wish to bring a minibus of interested students along; if
so you'd be very welcome.
If you have any questions about the meeting, please do not hesitate to ask. I hope to see
some of you there.
Yours,
Steve
