To whom it may concern,

I am currently studying at the University of the West of Scotland and I am contacting you regarding a research study I am conducting for my 4thyear dissertation.

Titled: A Qualitative Study into the Classification of Great Apes as Persons. Results of this study will allow me to draw conclusions as to whether great apes should be granted personhood.

I am aware that you have a Primatology department within your university, and I would greatly appreciate it if this email could be distributed among any lecturers, postgraduate or PhD students that may be interested in completing an interview for this study.

Please find attached the Participant Information Sheet for this research. The consent form will be sent to any willing participants.

I am aiming to complete the interviews by the end of February-beginning of March. Please take time to read the participant information sheet and contact me if you have any questions. Any willing participants can contact me via this email address or through my personal email addressc.s.oneill@hotmail.co.ukto arrange a consent form and a date and time for the interview.

Thank you for your time, I look forward to hearing from you,

Kind Regards,

Charlotte O’Neill
