Dear all, ?Tomorrow we have final year student Kieran Lee talking to us about his dissertation project with the Blair Drummond chimpanzees. As well as giving a talk on his project he will be hosting a discussion on the question of animal consciousness. The title of his talk is: "Auditory enrichment for captive chimpanzees and the question of animal consciousness." BERG - 22.03.2017: Undergraduate Research Projects at Blair Drummond

Dear all, This week our BERG meeting will be of particular interest to 3rd year undergraduate students who are thinking about doing a dissertation project on animal behaviour next semester. On Wednesday in our usual BERG slot we have Prof Jim Anderson visiting from Kyoto University to present a talk entitled: "Outbreak of cooperative punishment in a wild, multilevel primate society (Sichuan snub-nosed monkeys, Rhinopithecus roxellana)". Wednesday 8th March: Christoph Völter

Dear all, For this week's BERG meeting we have Christoph Völter coming over from St Andrews. Christoph is currently covering Amanda Seed's duties (both as Living Links research coordinator, and in St Andrews) while she is on maternity leave, so it's a great opportunity to get him over here to talk to us! http://www.eva.mpg.de/psycho/staff/christoph-voelter/index.html?Fsize=0 The title of his talk is: "Explaining away: how great apes learn causal structures by discounting alternatives". If you would be interested in coming for a drink and/or quick dinner with Christoph after the meeting then please just let me know. No BERG this week/Meeting and Night Out next week

Dear all, I am just writing to remind you that there will be no BERG meeting this week. Next week (March 1st), BERG's Prof Phyllis Lee will host a discussion around the following question: "Can we enable a voice for the natural world?" Also, after next week's meeting some of us will be going for food and drinks to say farewell to Hayley (more details below). Please do come along- all are welcome! BERG night out on Wednesday 1st March to mark Hayley's leaving. Hayley Ash has been with us for many years, as a PhD student and now early career fellow, and is moving on to an excellent postdoc position at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA. To mark her leaving we plan to go the Meadowpark (https://www.themeadowparkstirling.co.uk/) after Phyllis Lee's BERG talk on 1st March.
