Dear Bergers,
This week our BERG seminar will be a sound recording workshop run by Dr Pawel Fedurek. He will be demonstrating and showing the new sound recording equipment that BERG has acquired. The workshop will be in person April 26th at 4 pm in the Psychology Common Room (C3A94).
If you are a PhD student or an early career researcher -- or simply interested in how these methods could be used in your research -- please do come along! All are welcome -- especially PhD students and early career folks!
Best wishes,
Sharon

Thank you, Sharon! I've just signed up. The below info works - here is also a link to the dog version. https://www.whole-dog-journal.com/behavior/modifying-aggressive-dog-behavio… For wild primates, the 'sub-threshold' behavior would be moving away from the human - so you'd present the stimulus at a far enough distance where they don't move away.

I'm also happy to chat with anyone who needs some specific ideas or training protocols. I've written training protocols for projects for Northeastern, MIT, University of Glasgow, etc.
Thanks again! I loved the session and can't wait to learn more!

Hi Hannah, I’m giving a talk in May at the University of Leeds that might be of interest to BERG, and I was wondering whether you could possibly help circulate?
My talk is part of a seminar on public attitudes towards wild carnivores, with special reference to landscape rewilding here in the UK. Using wild foxes as an example, I’ll be talking about whether promoting research on carnivore psychology can be used as a marketing tool for encouraging greater public tolerance of carnivores.
People can join online or in person. See the programme and book here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/good-dog-bad-dog-online-event-tickets-619827…
Many thanks for your help!

Hello all,
Just a reminder that we have Jim Anderson giving a seminar on Thursday (at 5pm in the common room, and Teams link below). We will be going out for a drink after the talk, probably to the MacRobert or Meadowpark (partly so that Jim gets a chance to see how much those places have changed over the past few years!) – all welcome.
Christine.

Subject: Jim Anderson seminar on Thursday 20th April
Dear all,
I am delighted to announce that we will soon have a visit from our former colleague Jim Anderson (now at Kyoto University in Japan). Jim has offered to give us a seminar (please see attached title and abstract), which will be held at 5pm on Thursday 20th April in the Psychology Common Room. Apologies for the late timing, but we wanted to avoid a clash with the events of the Final Year Conference which is on the same day (and unfortunately no other day was possible as Jim is only here for a few days, and had prior commitments on the other days).
Christine.
