International Conference on Animal-Computer Interaction ACI'22 – General CFP
Website: https://www.aciconf.org/aci2022 <https://www.aciconf.org/aci2022>
Date & Location: 5-8 December 2022, hosted by Northumbria University, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK.
ACI2022 is the leading conference in animal computing. For ACI2022, the conference's ninth edition, we invite a wide range of contributions that can share and discuss work and topics related to the research and design of computing-enabled and interactive technology for animals and foster the development of ACI as a discipline.
Submissions will be peer-reviewed, and accepted submissions are included in the ACI2022 Conference Proceedings. The publications include accepted research papers, workshop proposals, emerging work and doctoral consortium submissions.
This year's conference theme is Defining Tomorrow. The theme acknowledges the rapid growth in technology for animals with new products coming onto the market, normalising the use of technology in many human-animal relationships, and asks: where should we go next?
Submission Tracks and deadlines:
Research papers (abstracts 19 May 2022, complete submissions 26 May 2022)
Workshop proposals (19 May 2022)
Emerging Work (11 August 2022)

Dear all
If you are a primatologist here in Scotland, the Scottish Primate Research Group meeting will be held from 2nd - 4th September 2022 (after several postponements), at the Burn, near Edzell.
The SPRG webpage is here: https://scottishprimate.wp.st-andrews.ac.uk/
If you did not receive the message below but feel you should be part of the SPRG, please e-mail Manon (ms397(a)st-andrews.ac.uk) to request you are added.
Thanks, Hannah

Hi Everyone,
We're very sorry to announce that once again we've had to postpone the SPRG meeting at The Burn due to the ongoing pandemic and not enough interest/people comfortable with attending the scheduled April meeting. We thank everyone who took the time to fill out the survey which helped us make this difficult decision.
The good news is that we've managed to book new dates at The Burn for 2nd - 4th September 2022. We really hope we won't have to postpone again, and we ask that in the meantime you all spread the word to colleagues and lab members. Due to the long time since our last SPRG meeting, we are afraid the e-mail list is not really up to date. If you would like to change your e-mail address or add new lab members, please do so by e-mailing Manon (ms397(a)st-andrews.ac.uk).
Thank you for your understanding and patience, and we hope to see you later this year. Please forward on details of SPRG and the Burn to anyone that you think might be interested - it would be great to get a good turnout for our September reunion!
Best wishes,
Emma, Manon, and Lara

Hi,
Please find attached the adverts for our Animal Husbandry and Botany & Horticulture 12 month Voluntary Work Placements, commencing in September 2022 at the North of England Zoological Society (Chester Zoo).
To apply for either of these placements, interested students should visit - MailScanner has detected a possible fraud attempt from "www.jobtrain.co.uk" claiming to be Chester Zoo | Jobs | Search here for your perfect career (jobtrain.co.uk)<https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.jobtr…>
Please note: The closing date will be 13 March 2022. Please make any interested students aware of this.
These placements offer students the opportunity to gain both practical experience working alongside experienced Zoo Keepers/Horticulturists & Botanists within a unique scientific/conservation environment, and also a programme of theoretical workshops covering a wide range of zoo management issues.
It is important to note that despite the duration of these placements, they are entirely voluntary, so students must have organised financial provision prior to undertaking this year.
I would be grateful if you would make the attached adverts available to all relevant students.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Many thanks

Subject: UFAW LINK - Animal Welfare and Sustainability webinar
----------------------------------------
Hi all
With my SRUC hat on I have organised a webinar on animal welfare and sustainability - sometimes animal welfare is considered an integral part of sustainability, and sometimes it is not considered at all, or some actions (such as intensification of agricultural practice) may lead to poorer animal welfare. To discuss these issues we have a line up of four great speakers able to talk about this from different perspectives: Alistair Lawrence, Jimmy Turnbull, Becky Doyle and Andy Peters. If you would like to come along then see below:
The Eventbrite site is now live for the webinar – it is free but just so we can manage numbers people need to register to get the link to attend. This has been advertised on the SRUC website and internally (or will be shortly) and I will advertise around the vet school and Global Academy at the University (once I figure out how the mlist works!), as well as to policy staff at Scottish Government. Please feel free to send out to your networks/students as well if they are likely to be interested – see link below

---
Care-giving is puzzling. Providing care to others when they are sick and contagious is dangerous; the carer risks contracting the disease. Under these circumstances, care-giving should not evolve. This project examines how the psychological changes that occurred in the human lineage after we diverged from other apes may have facilitated care-giving in our species.
Have you ever wondered why we take care of others when they are sick? Want to help figure out why? We are recruiting groups of 2 - 10 friends to participate in this project investigating how people respond to images of friends and strangers when they look healthy and unhealthy. You would first have your pictures taken (Part 1) and then participate in eye-tracking and pupillometry experiments with video recording (Part 2).
Participants will be reimbursed with 2 tokens and a £20 Amazon voucher.
Sign up for Part 1 here: https://stirling.sona-systems.com/exp_info.aspx?experiment_id=2156 or search for "HumansCare: The Evolution of Care-Giving for Sick People (Part 1)" on Psychweb. If you can't access the study on Psychweb please contact rachel.cassar(a)stir.ac.uk.
After completing Part 1, participants will be invited to sign up for Part 2.
For any queries, please send an email to rachel.cassar(a)stir.ac.uk.
