Dear all,
I am just writing to remind you that there will be no BERG meeting this week.
Next week (March 1st), BERG's Prof Phyllis Lee will host a discussion around the following question:
"Can we enable a voice for the natural world?"
Also, after next week's meeting some of us will be going for food and drinks to say farewell to Hayley (more details below). Please do come along- all are welcome!
BERG night out on Wednesday 1st March to mark Hayley's leaving.
Hayley Ash has been with us for many years, as a PhD student and now early career fellow, and is moving on to an excellent postdoc position at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA. To mark her leaving we plan to go the Meadowpark (https://www.themeadowparkstirling.co.uk/) after Phyllis Lee's BERG talk on 1st March. (For those on a budget please note it will be individual bills.)
Please can you let Hannah (h.m.buchanan-smith(a)stir.ac.uk) know if you wish to join us so she can book a table. All welcome.
All the best,
Eoin

Dear friends and colleagues
I am delighted to announce that Professor Tetsuro Matsuzawa will be giving a presentation at the University of Stirling.
Professor Matsuzawa is famous for his research on chimpanzee cognition, combining a long-term study of chimpanzees in the wild and testing them in captivity (the Ai project).
His findings demonstrate the sophisticated cognitive abilities of chimpanzees that have had important welfare consequences (e.g. adding to the evidence underpinning changes to their use in research and testing).
Please also see http://matsuzawa.kyoto/cv/en/
Date - Thursday 16th March
Time - 4pm
Location - 2A73 in the Cottrell Building, University of Stirling
Title - SAGA: An attempt to promote the welfare of chimpanzees and other nonhuman primates in Japan
SAGA stands for Support for African/Asian Great Apes and their website is here: http://www.saga-jp.org/indexe.html
I attach a poster that I hope you might print out and put up, or please feel free to send this message around to colleagues.
Maps of how to get to Stirling are here:
