<P class=article>PMWATCH - February 7, 2003 -- During this intifada through 11/25/02, for every 1 Israeli civilian wounded by a Palestinian, FORTY Palestinian civilians aare hospitalized in attacks by Israelis. </P>
<P class=article>We base this on the following sources: </P>
<P class=article>- Israeli injury stats as of 11/25/02 (last date provided) by the IDF <BR>Palestinian injury stats as of 11/25/02 by the Red Cross (PRCS) </P>
<P class=article>- We use the generally accepted figure of 85% for the ratio of civilian injuries on the Palestinian side. PRCS makes no such distinctions. This is the ratio offerred by MIFTAH, the Palestine Monitor, and most other Palestinian sources. Bear in mind as well that most Palestinian sources maintain that the number of injuries reported by PRCS is misleading, as it reflects only those who were able or willing to get formal medical treatment. Under closure, it is widely assumed that the total number of unreported injuries is about equal to the total number of reported injuries. Similarly, the IDF frequently records minor scratches as injuries to inflate the impact of suicide bombings. </P>
