European and Latin American leaders at a summit in Mexico have condemned the abuse of Iraqi prisoners by US soldiers and called for greater multilateral decision-making in world affairs.
"We firmly condemn all forms of abuse, torture and other cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment of persons, including prisoners of war, wherever they occur," said a final declaration adopted by 58 leaders from the European Union, Latin America and the Caribbean.

Wherever a new bank is being established there is the relevant question of where the float capital is coming from. Although this report suggests that much of it is coming from a social security fund, plus public subscriptions, we would expect a substantial capital block is already pre-sold to the traditional sources of bank capital, to ensure that it becomes part of the international bank network.

It is always fascinating to watch the eagerness with which so-called progressives unquestioningly accept an official history full of virtuous U.S. officials and villainous savages trying the patience of the peaceful, law-abiding Great Powers. Some thoughts on UNSCR 1441 and the dubious legality of the invasion of Iraq - 29th May, 04
This short essay is a collection of my thoughts on the legality of invading Iraq, specifically in relation to the infamous Resolution 1441. It is largely the product of various exchanges with posters to Medialens (mostly trolls). As so many journalist, politicians, bloggers, and the like continue to appeal to 1441 (frequently distorting it), it seemed useful to collect my thoughts. I should emphasise that I am not a lawyer but I hope that some people may find it of use -even if it is decidely old news now
