Tonight Jonathan Rugman referred to the 500 dead as a result of the invasion
of Iraq.
Please write to Jim Gray at C4 News to correct this error. Here is my
response:

Dear Jim,
I enjoyed Jonathan Rugman's hard hitting and interesting report on the lead
up to a US inquiry on WMD - with one exception. In highlighting the problems
faced by the Bush administration, Mr Rugman referred to the 500 people who
have died in Iraq. Perhaps this omission of the thousands of Iraqi dead
(including an estimated 9,000 civilians) is a genuine error. However a
cynical mind might construe this as a Freudian slip, betraying the sorts of
'western' values highlighted by the historian Mark Curtis; values that
permeate journalism in Britain and which lead the the categorisation of
large proportions of the world populace as 'non-people'.

Please correct this misreporting, and restore my faith in what has been
consistently the best British TV reporting of the Iraq issue.
