Dear List-members, the attached puts some more flesh on what last night's Panorama was all about, and there's a decent reading-list at the end.
That Panorama was so important - the making of the programme itself provides a valuable 'fingerprint' of BBC editorial attitudes to the Iraq 'War', and those attitudes can be revcealed with some simple questions relating to the production of the documentary - when was the programme first pitched ? Who proposed it ? Who budgeted it ? Who sanctioned Bradshaw and his crew's movements ? And most importantly of all - why was the programme not shown until almost two months after the 'war' had started ?
That single edition of Panorama is more revealing about the BBC than it is about the PNAC, but someone has to ask the questions before there's any chance of having them answered - the BBC should be able to answer the simple questions listed above. Please consider asking them of Mosey, Sambrook and all the other Beeb high-heid yins who probably 'think it's all over'.
