Dear Fi,
your topic for discussion today - 'How can we
get the Iraqi people to trust coalition forces ?' - is an interesting one and
will no doubt inspire a good range of suggestions.
Similarly phrased questions you may wish
to use in future shows might be :
'How can Tony Blair get Labour Party members
to trust him ?'
'Is it reasonable to expect the UN to reconstruct
Iraq after two of its own Security Council permanent members have destroyed it
?'
'Should BBC consumers be constantly
cautioned that the movements of 'embedded' journalists are as restricted as
those of journalists currently based in Baghdad ?'
'Is it unpatriotic to protest against Britsh troops
being involved in an illegal invasion which may lead to their being prosecuted
in the International Criminal Court ?'
'After the 'certain victory' has been secured, will
the UN be taking any action against Security Council permanent members who
knowingly presented the Council with false/misleading and faked 'evidence' in
support of Resolution 1441 ?'
These questions might draw some interesting
viewpoints from your listeners, and there is a whole raft of others involving
use of the words 'Israel', 'weapons of mass destruction' and 'rank
hypocrisy'.
